After the Ghanaian embarrassment, fire the NCAA and go to the ghetto for the dream team
The aggressive play of DaMarcuc Beasley that created the led pass for Clint Dempsey to beat Ghana’s goalkeeper for 10 yard shot is the future of United States. There were many other opportunities to score but the Americans were too fatigued and lack the speed to exploit them.
Speed was employed Ghana’s national team over and over again to counter-attack and wear down and then overwhelm the much slower and weaker American team. Long-range pinpoint passes over US frontline defense deep in the America rear created a short field for Ghanaian attackers and a shorten action window for American defenders.
Raw breakaway ghetto speed illustrated by the Ghanaian attackers allows them to make adjustments on both sides of the ball for the 32-16 differential in fouls. By the second half, the American team was physically spent and unable to exploit most opportunities that required speed and/or mobility like the Dempsey goal. The deep penetration of the Ghanaians counter-attacks in the second half forced and determined what Americans players came into the game and when.
Overwhelming speed is the core element in all US sports played but African Americans and the most critical lacking element of the US soccer.
The Dujkov game plan was designed, like the old Chicago Bull, to create and exploit mismatches deep in the American rear. The Ghanaian superior technical abilities, developed in European play, allow them to not just clear the ball from their end, quickly transition from defense to attack with aggressive outlet passing.
In the final analysis’s fatigue and poor pass skills, created the conditions for mistakes.
The American team was not contracted to deal with the speed and mobility of the Ghanaian attackers or the fatigue factor, after playing Italy. Lack team speed and depth and defense players to deal with the shorten field, the African were physical and mentally overwhelm the Americans. The Americans were forced to weak long-range shots on goal, rather than exploiting matches within the Ghanaian mid-field and defense, because the Americans could never get their attack set up. After the second, the time management was on the Ghanaian side.
The worst aspect of the game was the nature, range and types of shots on goal the Ghanaians force the US take because of their lack of field position and players locations in the attack zone.
The slower NCAA players that form the core of the US national team, particularly the strikers must be replace by design with faster, technical players able to counter attack and carry and keep the attack on the other teams. The soccer long-ball is critically missing from the current American attack, and should designed into player-select in a way to allow the coaches to use interchangeable parts.
America must get your best young talent to play the world best. You become the best play, only by playing the best players at every level of a given sport.
United States young soccer players must be exposed on a regular bases to the best young players in Europe, South America and Africa before high school at all cost. Multinational corporations have the best political infrastructure and business culture to handle this critical national task. If need be, corporations should be given a dollar for dollar tax credit for investment in urban soccer infrastructure.
The first step in creating a world class United State national soccer program is to stop the NCAA racist policy importing foreign soccer players to play on the American team, rather than developing the gift and talented ghetto segment of American youth.
The WHL, Yankees and Mets importation model will destroy any chance for young Americans to develop world-class skill within the inner city. An aggressive 20 year national Manhattan project free of NCAA influence and control to develop inner talent will solved the America talent pool storage. Playing world-class soccer aboard in Europe and South America will solve the experience issue.
American Multinational Corporation much take control national soccer program and some of their money away from the NCAA and create inner city working class leagues that function as feeder for American soccer players to transition to the top soccer leagues in Europe and South America, not just the North America Soccer leagues.
