The Chinese lesson in Lebanon learned the hard way
The new Middle East is centering on a new Chinese led Asian orientation. The real victory of the Lebanon war was China and its state own oil companies and the real losers were the western oil lobby and the people of both Lebanon and Israel. Concern Americans should as the people of southern Sudan what its like to live under Chinese foreign oil companies rule. China has created a military fiction called Hezbollah and the western press is trying to make it into a political reality.
The war between Israel and Hezbollah and the larger war between the Bush administration and Iran are small sub-plots in a global endgame for control of Middle East oil exports. China’s growing support for what President called “Islamic fascists” is just a means to China economic end of feeding it industrial energy needs.
This new imposing Chinese centric political reality has been particularly hard for the older people of Israel and their supporters in the United States to understand and come to terms with. Israel, however invincible it army once was, can not stop the political will of the second largest economy in the world. Not only can’t Israel or its American lobby stand up to China, the Israeli lobby in the US was weaken by the US multinational reexporting 500 billion dollars of goods to the US, Japan and Europe final markets. China is paying its growing energy bill to the oil lobby out of it export profits. The new balance media coverage of the war and the ruthless of the Israeli terror bombing were reflective of the influence powerful China lobby in the US and Europe, and the weakening of the Israeli lobby.
No war is the history of Israel has ever been so balanced in its reporting. This fact was missed by MOSSAD and the Israeli Army general staff. Mistakes like Qana took on military importance and consequence like never before. Israel was kept from winning the war, like 1973, by the US oil lobby needs to find Hezbollah long-range missile infrastructure. Condoleezza Rice and Israeli leaders lack the political backbone and courage to challenge Vice President and US oil companies about the national security needs of the northern Israeli cities during the first critical three weeks of the war.
While Israel finally won the war on the ground, thanks to a Chinese brokered deal, it lost the political war in world opinion. As important, it also lost a lot of American respect and political support. Israel power military failed to stop the Hezbollah missile from raining on its northern cities.
The obvious short-term military problem Israel faces is cold, lethal Chinese technology. The Israel rejection of its own military doctrine and reliance on US Space high-tech is not a substation for sound Israeli foreign policy planning. The western oil lobby hegemony is being downgraded by China and Asia energy crisis. Israel strategic role within the Middle East must change from being a US oil lobby proxy to a real partner in regional peace.
This can only been done by separating Israeli national interests from the western oil lobby.
The Chinese supplied and armed Hezbollah’s of tomorrow will be armed with MIRV missiles fired from the air, sea and land Chinese delivery systems. They will have their own Chinese made M-26 carpet bombing missiles that will pass US-made M-26 Israeli missiles in mid fight on their way to defenseless Israeli cities. Hezbollah has introduced Israel to the concept of mutual assured destruction (MAD). A Middle Eastern Cuban crisis is coming next between Iran and Israel. The problem is only starting.
The first lesson for Israel and other US proxy states should learn from the Lebanon conflict is to make sure your national security concern comes before the US oil lobby. Pro-Star War planners should be kept away from the national defense planning process.
The so-called Kosovo model plan for the Israeli pre-emptive war against Hezbollah was formulated in the United States on the notion that the oil lobby and US Space Command would use the Israeli Air power to address their comprehensive region interests for the first weeks of the war.
These oil interests were not the protection of Israel towns and cities, but finding long-range Hezbollah missile infrastructure to provoke an attack on southern Israeli cities. Hezbollah was allowed to rained almost 4,00 missile on northern Israeli, while US Space command order Israeli Air power to continued to hunt for oil lobby targets.
The second lesson is proxy states should never sub-contact out their own national security management to US Vice President Cheney and his boys a US Space Command. Just ask the people of New Orleans and southern Louisiana about his work. Southern cities Lebanon look like Iraqi and the 9th Ward in Orleans.
The third lesson if you have a military doctrine that works in your particular historical context, update and modernized the doctrine, our doctrine is sound and would solve your problem, may take a little more afford. But whatever you, do not use the US Space Command doctrine.
Finally, ideology, left or right is not a substitute for good military planning, active intelligence and cold, lethal technology. US Space Command doctrine is based on a notion of yesterday Euro centric world order and the application of mindless high-tech stuff that only work in computer-simulations. US Space Command has no sense of the emerging realities and the dynamic humanism in the developing world.
The real “birth pang” of the new Middle East order is China increasing need for energy to industrialize. This need is driving the Middle East into a new range of political choices. Hezbollah is one of the new choices, Sudan is another, a new Israel will also be one.
